Apparently, we as a society are so wrapped up in the idea of how “gay” objects, clothing styles, and activities are that we can’t even leave automobiles out of it! Thus, the guys at Car Talk, those true caterers of car conversation, hold come up with these: lists of the top 10 gay and woman loving woman cars. Let’s seize a look, shall we?
Car Talk took a completely non-scientific poll and queried their lesbian and gay listeners, and apparently some direct and bisexual people, too, asking for nominations of the best queer vehicles.

The market
Since the purchase of a car involves quite a substantial amount of money, wagon manufacturers have turned their attention to the L and G markets decades ago: some brands aim for gay men, others typically for lesbians.
Subaru was the first one to recommend themselves to lesbian drivers, and they have done so for years, with the help of i.a. Martina Navratilova. Subaru also spoke out politically, in support of LGBT. They are, hands down, the winner in the LGBT-friendly competition (see below).
Brands like Jeep, Audi, Toyota, Fiat, BMW, Ford and Volvo have all targeted the G(LBT) consumers over the years, and this has only increased since the 2015 ruling of the SCOTUS in the US has made the rainbow mainstream.

The website Gay Wheels is dedicated to the automobile as an object of admiration, status, hobby for gays and lesbians, and discusses how – and why – car companies engage in gay marketing. I must inform you of my shock and surprise at hearing you tell that the fresh Beetle is a chick car. I was so sure that it was a gay-guy automobile that my match and I decided, after 10 years of domestic bliss, to purchase our very first car: a dark-blue modern Beetle.
About a week later, a friend of mine from upstate sent me an urgent fax which quite obviously confirmed my assumption. It read: "News flash: two cute gay guys spotted exiting a brand new canary yellow Beetle in downtown Trumansburg."
