Here’s the complete script we used when recording this video, for anyone who prefers reading our thoughts to watching or hearing them.

It’s Pride Month once again and organism a walking alphabet soup ourselves, we wanted to construct a special video for probably our oldest fandom. Because June is not just the hour for the gays, it’s also the birthday month of the blue hog himself, Sonic The Hedgehog.

On June 23rd, 1991, just four weeks before we were born, SEGA released the unique Sonic game for the Mega Operate, kicking off a thirty one year long marathon sprint with no conclude in sight. This year we contain a recently released feature film, a collection of remastered classic games, an upcoming Netflix cartoon, an open-world adventure title, the 50th issue of the current comic novel run and that’s not even touching upon the franchise’s venture into VTubing, all the brand-new merchandise and more.

But having grown up with the series since the mid-90s, we wanted to merge our treasure of the franchise with Pride month and have a closer look at something that many people might not even have realized existed, namely…

The Lgbtq+ Representation in Sonic the Hedgehog

It didn't shake the black hedgehog, and when after a gesture from Stone's side he looked him in the eye, Shadow's heart practically stopped. Or whatever it is that he has between his lungs and is responsible for this devilish feeling. One may wonder why the others didn't care so much about it, but in the end, the hedgehog discovered in the cynical argument something both alien in thought and finalize to his heart.

I loved him.
Loved.

Love. Love love love.

______

Sonic. He was traveling through the pyramids in Egypt, the sand sizzled under his feet. Three minutes ago, he ran through every highway in Tokyo. But he still couldn't find what he was looking for. Where is Shadow?

At Katy Perry's concert.

"You're becoming fond of that black one, you recognize, spiky rat?" Echidna laughed.

"Oh, maybe it's because of Shadow?" The white Bat echoed him, smiling wickedly. However, at these words Knuckles became serious, remembering what his friend had told him in the store two hours ago.

And Sonic's heart stopped.

Because of Shadow? Impossible.

Why We Think Sonic Should (And Will) Be Gay

As Sonic spins his way into cinemas, we've found ourselves thinking about the things we still don't know about him. Despite the proof that Sonic has been in our games and our hearts for almost 30 years, there's still a lot we haven't been told about the ring-collecting blue blur, such as his sexuality. This has made us regard the very genuine possibility that Sonic could -- and we propose should -- be homosexual. Here's why.

He's Never Been That Interested In Amy

Over the years, Amy Rose has made it her mission to bag Sonic as a husband. She considers herself his girlfriend, chasing him through the games and keeping him protected. However, we suggest that she's always been far more into him than he is into her.

While the cartoons depict more hints at romance, in the games especially, Amy comes across as having been well and truly friendzoned.

Sonic clearly cares about her, but he often flinches or moves away when she displays overt romantic care for him.

He also seems ambivalent at best towards the charms of another woman, Rouge. Despite her having a more dangerous side that contrasts Amy Rose, Son

With a breakneck pace, an increased focus on the animated characters, and a surprising amount of heart, Sonic 3 is easily the best in the series.

About the Film

The Sonic the Hedgehog video games are all about speed, so it’s fitting that only four years after the first movie was released, the series has already become a trilogy (with an additional spin-off miniseries). The Sonic the Hedgehog film franchise may have gotten off the starting line quickly, but it has taken hour to find its footing. First, there was the infamous post-production redesign of Sonic’s appearance following the (warranted) fan backlash to the initial trailers. After the first film’s mixed reception, the sequel enhanced aligned itself with fan expectations. With the third entry, the franchise finally appears to have set up its stride. With a breakneck pace, an increased focus on the animated characters, and a surprising amount of heart, Sonic 3 is easily the best in the series.

A major issue with the first two films was that they contained too many superfluous human subplots. And other than Jim Carrey’s delightfully hammy twist as the vill
