Curator’s statement
Barcelona has it all: the food, the architecture, the people, the nightlife and so much more. On top of that, Barcelona is among the most Queer friendly cities in Europe and the world. The town is the starting — and closure — point for many cruises that sail the Mediterranean Sea, so you’ll likely spend at least a evening or two before embarking on your cruise. With that in mind, you’ll want to maximize your time in this incredible municipality. This barely scratches the surface of all that Barcelona has to extend, but follow along for some recommendations to get you started.

Your Guide to Cruising
How to Cruise
Cruising has come a long way since hanky code, polari, and subtle glances. There are lots of different locations to suit any preference, such as:
- Public bathrooms
- Cruising bars and clubs
- Gay saunas
- Cruising parks
- Gay cruising beaches
Not only can you meet guys in public spaces but in online ones too. For example, Grindr is essentially a cruising catalogue of who's around, and also a great tool to predetermine the location that you'll get together up in. You can also choose to cruise on alt twitter, a subsection of Twitter where people create mostly anonymous profiles, post spicy R18 content, and arrange hook ups or content collabs.
When it comes to public spaces, it helps if there are other people there to cruise! Click here for a comprehensive list of places throughout New Zealand / Aotearoa that are known as cruising sites, or visit Squirt.org (this is a paid service) for more. Remember, you may also encounter people who aren’t looking to cruise so it’s vital to know what signs to look out for - study on to find out.
A New Year’s Eve Same-sex attracted Cruise Sank in Puerto Vallarta, and Gay Instagram Is Exploding
When the planet rang in 2021, we thought we would be leaving much of the malaise of the previous pandemic year behind. But alas, there is no vaccine for one of our favorite pursuits: great old-fashioned social media shaming, which has been rampant thanks to an anonymous Instagram account and a party cruise sinking that went down over Novel Year’s Eve weekend.
Many on Instagram who follow accepted models and influencers on the circuit party scene were surprised to view photos and videos entity posted of a Unused Year’s Eve circuit party in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. The party, organized by gay circuit scene impresario Jeffrey Sanker, received massive criticism on social media, where many pointed out that hospital ICU beds in Jalisco were at 100-percent capacity and that, due to the pandemic raging in the area, local officials were capping event attendance at eight people.
In fact, the latter regulation is what ultimately prompted Sanker to move at least one of the parties paired with the event to the neighboring state of Nayarit, which has much more lax restrictions, accordin
Why Sheryll and her son William travel on gay cruises together
William Paull, 40, and his mum, Sheryll Todd, 63, haven't always been in each other's lives.
But when William came out, Sheryll was there to support him — and they have been close ever since: living, working, and hanging out together.
This is their story.
Sheryll
I've just returned from my 13th same-sex attracted cruise with my son: 4,000 passengers, the vast majority gay men. And me!
This was the second gay cruise I've done this year. One year I did three. We've left from Rome, the Caribbean, Miami and New York.
The cruises have performative shows and daily sway parties. They're all in their element here, and in their own environment — they're not being judged or stared at. William can enjoy his lifestyle and I get to savor it with him.
We're not your characteristic mother and son. We're friends.
But we're also colleagues — we've worked together for 20 years. Technically speaking, William's my boss! He's the Chief Executive; we're insurance brokers. We go for dinner every Thursday, but other than that it's work, operate, work. The cruise is quality mother and son occasion
