Russell brand is gay
Russell Brand has been accused of 'very, very serious' crimes, but cancelling him could be complicated
Did you hear the one about the guy who was "so well dressed, he must be gay"?
Russell Brand told it during a TV interview in 2008.
Joking about himself, the actor and comedian told former long-time US late-night host David Letterman his distinctive threads, "wonderful haircut" and sensitive nature had its advantages.
"That means women feel reliable around me, they trust me," Identity explained.
"Then bang, pregnant! Bang, pregnant! Bang, pregnant!"
It was standard of Brand's gags — highly sexual, a little self-deprecating, often with women as the punch line.
Now, however, that brand humour has another layer to it.
Sexual assault support services:
Brand was the subject of a combined investigation published at the weekend by British media outlets which detailed claims of rape, sexual assaults and bullying from four women.
The 48-year-old denies the allegations, which meet from between 2006 and 2013, when Brand was at the height of his fame.
Brand described the claims as "very, very intense criminal allegations".
Why do you create it such a big deal?
I recently saw a conversation on YouTube between Russell Brand and Jordan Peterson. Two very famous, wealthy, straight, white cis-gender (ie not transgender) men who were talking about “identity politics”. They discussed whether it’s kind or not for people to spot themselves so strongly as things enjoy gay, bi, transgender, black or disabled, concluding of course that it is not. They focussed particularly on the triviality of “who you might crave to have sex with in a given moment” and the absurdity of making that the defining feature of one’s self. Ahead of Leicester Pride this coming weekend, let’s consider this.
In a perfect world, I agree. I am many things. An IT nerd, a singer, a musician, a emotional vegan cook, a runner, a unrestrained swimmer, a dancer, a voracious podcast listener as skillfully as being double attraction, non-binary and transgender. Theoretically, none of those things should describe me more than any others. But whereas at school my love of cookery and music were enthusiastically supported, and my abilities in IT, running and swimming were part of the curriculum, my sexuality and my gender culture could not be named or discussed. Russell Brand: ‘I had sex with a man’
During an interview with fellow comedian Richard Herring, the 38-year-old opened up about the experience which he says was a stunt for a television show about social taboos.
He revealed: ‘I w**ked off a guy in a toilet. I mind, “I think of myself as heterosexual but perhaps that’s ‘cause of the environment that I grew up in where homosexuality may have been difficult for me to express.”’
The star, who admitted he was in the grips of heroin addiction at the time, continued: ‘I trawled around Soho…going [to] various same-sex attracted bars, gay gyms trying to pick people up with a film crew. I went in this pub and I goes: ‘Anyone want me to w*** them off?’
‘And this bloke goes, ‘Yep’. Like as if I was saying: “Does anyone desire a packet of crisps [potato chips] from the bar…?”
‘I w**ked off a man in a toilet'
‘So we goes to the lavvy – me, him, the director – and…he gets his willy out. And it was not nice. The phallus is…I enjoy mine and you see some others in paintings that observe all right but his looked like a rag.’

Russell Brand: "I wish I was bisexual" - confirms he's single and opens up about his sexuality
The comedian and player is single once again and admits he wishes he fancied men as well as women
Russell Mark wishes he was bisexual.
The flamboyant comedian has confirmed he is single once again after splitting from Jemima Khan claims he's a "tedious" heterosexual and wishes he liked men as well.
Speaking to Absolute Radio’s Geoff Lloyd, he said: "I'm single. Adequately, you've got to move into relationships with the right attitude. All relationships, I'm always positive about them.
"I wish I was bisexual. That's one of the things about me where I've got a very traditional moral code. I'm tedious with my heterosexuality."
Russell's comments come after he previously carried out a sex act on a man for a TV show during his days as a drug addict.
The Rock of Ages actor, who was previously married to pop actor Katy Perry, explained in the podcast that he had picked the guy up in London's Soho by walking around the area and asking if anyone wanted to occupy in a sex do with him
