SOLO TRAVELER SUCCESS TIPS
So you’ve decided to travel on a VACAYA trip as a Solo Traveler… now what?
Each VACAYA trip is different, based on its type, its location, and the overall number of guests. So you’ll find that each has its own distinct identity. However, each of our event types – Bliss (big-ship cruises), Oasis (resorts), and Luxe (small-ship cruises) – offers myriad opportunities to connect with other travelers. From Solo Traveler Cocktail Hours to special dinners to game nights (and those are on top of all the other scheduled team activities), you’ll always hold moments of connection with other travelers.
We often catch about “cliques” on our and other companies’ trips and we’d like to address that topic truthfully and transparently. Yes, they do exist. What looks like a “clique” as an outsider looking in is usually a collective of friends who’ve met each other on a prior trip and hold now reconnected on this trip. The social bonds that happen on our trips is intense and can sometimes last a lifetime.
So what’s the finest way to turn a “clique” into a “click” as a Solo Traveler? This is where your confidence comes into participate –

travelling solo
Some just treasure to do their own thing. For the others, we offer several opportunities to make unused friends or strike up a romance.
From singles dinner tables to singles activities, we help you connect. The ship itself does the rest of the work—the warm, warm village atmosphere, the new found friends, and the helpfulness of 'The Cruise Staff', will form you won’t locate yourself alone.
how to book
To make it budget friendly, we are offering the single share program in some categories.
This means that you get to give a cabin with another solo guest. A few months before departure we will contact you with a brief survey, which is your opportunity to let us realize if you are a smoker/non-smoker, what languages you utter, if you are a party animal or prefer hushed nights in.
Based on that, we will match you with a like-minded single traveller of roughly the identical age. Before departure, we will deliver you the details of your room partner, so you can get in touch with each other prior to the start of the cruise.
still daunting?
Although the idea of sharing a cabin with someone you don’t know, maybe a bit daunting at first, understand that you will
We recently went on our second gay cruise with Atlantis Events and to say it was phenomenal would be an understatement.
After we wrote our first blog on Atlantis: 12 Things you need to know about a gay cruise we had a lot of people asking about travelling solo or as a single person on a homosexual cruise.
Atlantis certainly caters as a gay cruise for singles and everything in between (see ‘Who goes on a gay cruise’ which covers a diverse range of people – everything from open couples, closed couples, throuples, solo travellers and groups of friends).
Since we travelled as a couple, it’s not fair for us to tell you about what its really like to go on a gay cruise as a single person. That’s why we connected with fellow Brit, Ben (a different Ben!).
Ben went on his first same-sex attracted cruise as a single, solo traveller and we ran a short interview him so that you can learn what to expect, and hopefully put some of your concerns to bed.
We can’t talk highly enough about the cruise, so we wish that this encourages you to join us next year!
